Hello CT Hockey Members and Friends,
Over the past several evenings we have experienced a chill in the air that makes us all aware that hockey season is here! While I will miss the beach, I must admit that it is great to be back in the rinks around the state welcoming in another hockey season. For most CHC member programs, teams have been selected, practices are at full speed, some scrimmages have taken place and games are right around the corner. With the exciting start of a new season, I want to put a challenge to... continued

Parental Pressure in Sport
|
As a parent, one works to encourage, support and motivate their children in many facets of life and in sports. However many parents motivate their children in ways that are counterproductive and place more pressure on top of the pressure to succeed already placed on the player internally and externally through their team. Being there, driving your player to practice and watching your child play may be all it takes to motivate your child's drive to be the best they can be. read article provided by Minnesota Hockey

With Mike Powers, New England District USA Hockey, Associate Coach In Chief
"Over the years, I have worn three hockey hats, those of a player, coach and parent. The way in which this TRIAD works, hopefully together, is extremely important to the success of a season. This month I am providing an article that discusses the responsibilities and the importance of all three roles, enabling them to come together to create a harmonious environment.
In the world of physics, the sum of the parts equals the whole. In the game of hockey it is no different in that a negative affect by any one of the three roles will surely detract from the whole. Based on my experience I can say that when the three roles work together we can even defy physics and the parts can create something greater the whole of the parts making the season a magically one. Good luck in creating your magical season!" read article
