CT Hockey Day Update
Hello All,
The CT Hockey Day rinks have been defined for January 10, 2009!
At each of the ten rinks below CT Hockey and its member programs, with the support of USA Hockey, will be running a program to introduce 4 to 8 year old boys and girls to our great game of ice hockey. We are sending this quick update to let you know that plans are moving forward and that we need your help !
At each location we will need administrative support to register players, pass out equipment, help players get dressed and to collect equipment once they are done. We will also need on-ice support to get players up on their skates, provide some basic instruction; there will probably be the need to separate players based on ability and for the last 20 minutes supervising a cross-ice set of pond hockey type games. The goal is to make sure everything runs smoothly and that the kids have FUN. We will not be able to make them hockey players in an hour, but we want them to say (parents and players) that hockey is something we want our child to try a bit more. So please help in the FUN at:
- Champions Skating Center, Cromwell
- International Skating Center, Simsbury
- Norwich Ice Rink, Norwich
- Winter Garden Arena, Ridgefield
- Jahn Rink (Pomfret School), Pomfret
- Veterans Memorial Ice Rink, West Hartford
- Schmidt Ice Rink (Hotchkiss School), Lakeville
- The Rinks at Shelton, Shelton
- Stamford Twin Rinks, Stamford
- Northford Ice Pavilion, Northford
For a map of rink locations, go to the CT Hockey Day rink locator map.
People supporting the program will need to be at the rink from 10am until around 12:30pm.
If you are interested in helping at one of the defined rinks, please submit your contact information. If you hope to support on-ice activities you must be a USA Hockey Certified Coach Level 1 or above. Our assumption is that multiple CHC programs will be working TOGETHER at many rinks.
If you cannot be there to help, please make sure every boy and girl you know aged 4 to 8 years old, that is not playing hockey, is at one of the rinks. They will receive a voucher to go to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers versus Hartford Wolfpack game that night in Bridgeport for participating in the event.
To download a flyer to share with potential participants, or to get more information about CHC Grow-The-Game activities please go to CTHockeyNews.com.
See you at the rink !!!
Sincerely,
Ken Dixon, CT Hockey Grow-The-Game Director
